The Circular Drive

Photo c. 1930
In their effort to create a harmonious union of house and landscape, the Olmstead firm designed new roadways and modified farm buildings placement in the landscape. A new circular drive at the end of the existing avenue of elms guided the visitor to the recently built porte cochere at the buildings formal entrance. A large clay jar purchased in Egypt in 1930 by the Endicotts is displayed in the center of the circular drive.
